What does a pirate do? Simply put, they board and seize control of enemy ships. It just so happens that Japan has created a naval unit to do exactly that. The JMSDF created the Special Boarding Unit in response to an incursion by a NK spy vessel, and as such this patch represents the fictional 17th Special Boarding Unit, themed after Houshou Marine.

The design features a black and maroon red background, separated by a thin gold line. The border is a golden rope border, similar to those seen in many naval insignias.

The center design is an anchor, crossed by two harpoons, with the heart-shaped insignia of Houshou Marine on top.
